Our Story: Artlantic’s Foundation
Artlantic, founded by Adil Nadri in 2012, is a Danish NGO that uses art and culture to bridge communities and foster healing. Inspired by his encounters with artists from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Adil discovered Denmark’s forgotten colonial past. The name “ARTlantic” blends “ART” with “Atlantic,” symbolizing both artistic expression and the Atlantic Ocean—crossed during the transatlantic slave trade. It reflects our mission to honor history and use art as a tool for healing and connection.

The Logo: A Symbol of Connection
The Artlantic logo represents the historical ties between Denmark, the U.S. Virgin Islands (formerly the Danish West Indies), Ghana, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. The three triangles align on a world map, symbolizing these regions’ roles in the triangular trade, involving Danish forts on the West African coast and the transportation of enslaved people to the West Indies.

At Artlantic, we use art, music, and culture to bridge cultural gaps and promote healing. Our mission is to create inclusive spaces for dialogue, reflection, and connection, celebrating the shared heritage of Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Ghana, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Through events and community-driven projects, we explore historical and artistic ties, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.

Our Vision: A Future of Healing and Understanding
We envision a world where the arts transcend past wounds and foster healing, understanding, and positive change. Through collaborations across Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Ghana, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, we aim to inspire cultural exchange, celebrate diversity, and create lasting connections. Our goal is a more inclusive future where art bridges divides and encourages collective healing.

Our Impact: Transforming Society Through Creativity
Artlantic brings together artists, musicians, scholars, and communities to share stories and experiences, fostering collaborations that transcend suffering. We organize residencies, exhibitions, performances, seminars, and masterclasses in partnership with museums, galleries, universities, and cultural institutions. By harnessing the power of art, we create spaces for understanding, social change, and healing, contributing to a more equitable, connected world.
